CHATEAU FONTSAINTE Corbières Rosé Gris de Gris 2021

A benchmark rosé from this region and a cult wine across the pond, having been imported by one of the USA's top merchants since 1978. The wine is made in the saignée method whereby the run-off juice from a tank of crushed (usually red) grapes is fermented separately, giving added complexity and a touch of tannin. But the wine is also made from over 80% Grenache Gris, resulting in a very pale onion skin colour. 

There are summer fruits here but also aromas of white flowers and minerality. This is a very versatile wine, happy to play the role of crowd pleaser but serious enough to serve with food. One of our favourite discoveries of the last year.
